2009 Review

The 2009 Textile Art Festival in Brisbane was a resounding success.

An exciting mixture of fibre, yarn and fabric with a good dose of fun...
Textile guru Janet de Boer opened the event.
 

       

     

Displays of wearable art organised by Bernina wowed the audience.

         

 
Specialist retailers brought a treasure trove of textiles.

              

      

       

 

 
Entries in the competition - The Art of Recycling - astonished us with their ingenuity... and the use of materials that would otherwise be thrown away to create useful and attractive textile pieces...  and beautiful wearables.
 
     


Displays of spectacular quilts and textile artworks - even art knitting - provided loads of inspiration and viewing pleasure for visitors.
  

     
There was even a live link up with textile workers in India.
 


           

...the shopping was tempting...
 Demonstrations, classes and workshops kept everyone informed and entertained throughout the day.

 

     

   
And Sunday Funday gave us all a chance to show off handmade creations...
